Down Hall Hotel, Spa, Estate

A very big thank you for an excellent family wedding, great staff and venue!||Zoe was a superb wedding host and organiser, we know these events can be regular for the staff but we were made to feel particularly special all the time.||It was a busy day and we all assembled the night before the day to enjoy a special meal with new family and friends. The staff were very accommodating of everything we asked of them. ||The rooms were spotless and beautifully prepared. We all slept well in an area of historic beauty, the house itself and grounds are very well maintained, isolated and peaceful. ||The hotel accommodated many early check ins as those attending were travelling large distances. Jamie on reception did a brilliant job of dealing with these and many other requests!||We were blessed with lovely weather, which meant the outside ceremony prepared for us was a really emotional event. We were able to get some great pictures of the bride, groom and family with our classic car allowed to drive around the venue. ||The wedding breakfast was excellent - lovely food and served to everybody easily even when catering for around 120 people. ||The evening reception was enjoyed by all and the staff just kept going and smiling way past midnight!||The next morning we all had a hearty breakfast in a reserved area, it gave us an opportunity to talk more about the day before and all that had happened.||Lovely location with beautiful grounds - we would thoroughly recommended this venue for weddings or a peaceful getaway!

Fireworks night was incredible! This is the 4th year in a row I have taken my children and it just seems to get better and better! Smooth running with the ticket checking, no waiting at all, staff are all lovely and chatty! The complimentary hot chocolate is 10/10! The actual firework display is always on time and is sensational! Highly recommend and will be returning every year without a doubt! Thank you downhall for helping create amazing memories for my children! 5* every time!

Lovely hotel. Good service. Basic facilities in our room were somewhat lacking, though. Lock on bathroom door not working, shower not hot (then required maintenance to fix it to switch it off!). Room was incredibly small (impossible-to-walk-past-each-other-in-the-same-room small!). We’d paid a similar rate to relatives/friends also staying at the hotel but the rooms were vastly different. We also didn’t have a room next to my husband, as specifically requested, without an apology (“it’s on the same floor” was the reply when the matter was raised with reception). Whilst nicely decorated it was incredibly dusty (and as stated above, lacking in general maintenance). Not really what was expected from this calibre of hotel and therefore disappointing in this regard.

This was my second 1 night stay at this hotel as I enjoyed my first stay so much. We took part in the garden event of a 3 course meal cooked over and open fire, using ingredients grown on the land of the hotel. The setting was so pretty like something out of a fairytale and the food was delicious, they even catered for my food allergies and provided a live singer. The staff are always welcoming and regularly check in with guests. The surroundings provide the perfect opportunity for a leisurely stroll. I will definitely be staying again and really hope to try out the spa/beauty treatments next time.

We stayed at Down Hall on 20th September 2025 and had a wonderful time. All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating and you could clearly see they were also enjoying themselves which made the entire experience even more pleasant. We also used the Spa and had dinner at the Garden Room Restaurant and both were brilliant. This was our 2nd visit to this hotel and we will definitely be returning. FYI the breakfast is fantastic, probably the best I’ve had at a hotel in the UK.

Absolutely loved my stay at Down Hall Hotel & Spa. The place feels like a countryside escape straight out of a movie — stunning grounds, elegant interiors, and such a peaceful atmosphere. The spa was a total highlight — relaxing, luxurious, and beautifully designed. Staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top, and the food at the restaurant was delicious (especially breakfast!). Perfect for a romantic getaway or a quiet weekend to recharge. Can’t wait to go back!

We had our pre-wedding dinner at Fox's Bar & Terrace at Down Hall , and everything was absolutely amazing! The service was outstanding — the staff were so polite, friendly, and attentive. The food and drinks were delicious, and everything was beautifully presented. We also stayed at Down Hall, and the rooms were lovely — big, spacious, and very comfortable. It was the perfect start to our wedding celebrations, as we also had our wedding at Down Hall the next day.||Thank you to the whole team for making it such a wonderful experience!||– Dina

Spacious rooms, warm with soft modern touches and furnishings that compliment the theme of the rooms, decor and architecture was simply class, sitting on amazing grounds in a terrific location with a pleasant trail to walk or jog as well as some great facilities for activities. Superb service and all the staff were genuinely great, all polite and friendly...but a special mention to June in Reception (an absolute gem) she made us feel very welcome, really informative and took her time to talk us through everything they have to offer during our stay. Also shout out to Cam at the fox bar (what a gent), he was very accommodating, funny and conversational, listened to our requests carefully and made some well thought out recommendations on foods and drinks. Really enjoyed our stay - what a wonderful team you have at Down Hall!
