Just off jcn 11 and seen a sign for this pub for months and keep meaning to try, so after a weekend trip away I brought the family to try thinking it was still a pub. Arrived around 5 o'clock ish and carpark was empty and so was this place, it turns out now it's a Indian restaurant. Nevermind we thought we'd give it ago. Nobody inside apart from a couple of dodgy looking people wondering in then going into the kitchen. (Not staff btw). Alarm bells should have rang when the waiter asked for my card to put in an envelope and put under the till as he reckons people have eaten and ran off, Stupidly enough I gave the card and watched him seal this envelope, (if my card gets cloned I know exactly where I'm going). Just to say this activity isn't the norm for a restaurant. Anyway about the food, what can I say apart from poor. Chips were dark brown and soggy like they've been put in cold oil then heated up. 2 small mixed grill for 20 quid each and not the best as fish pakora seemed undercooked and slimy, keema naan had brown meat rather than the standard red, I cant remember what my daughter called her dish ( maybe tarka darl) but it looked like mud and not appetising at all, my wife's korma wasn't right either. The bowls that the salad came in were all chipped too as can be seen on the pictures. The food here is expensive and very poor. Then after all this my bill was over £130 for 5 people, Wow. On this occasion my wife and daughter in law wanted to complain but I said " atleast we've tried it, sorry it's my fault for choosing here and I'm not complaining as this is why I do reviews". When I paid I was also asked if I'd tip Really Who does this and asks If it was nice, yes by all means but no way not here. This is a poor place and its been a while since I've been to somewhere like this and had to rate the place and food a 1. Recommend? Big no from me.

My husband and I dropped in before heading on the M6 south. We ordered Chicken Bhunna and A Spicey Chicken Madras to come with Peswari nann and a pilaff rice. I ordered the bhunna …it was swimming in grease and very little chicken. What chicken that was present tasted herby not spicey and was thigh meat and very small pieces. I told the guy who did the table check that I didn’t have much chicken and to be fair he did go and get more but unfortunately it was not great, tasteless and very fatty. My husband who doesn’t like to cause a fuss said his was ok but to be honest now in the car says there was no spice and bland. The nann bread was small thin and very flat definitely not made on the premises. The pilaff rice was edible but not great but did have peas in it 😳 The guy clearing asked if we had finished .. I had eaten little as it was awlful. I tried to fill up on my husbands left over sauce with rice and peppers I scooped out of my balti dish avoiding the grease and chicken just so I could eat something. I mentioned to him that I had not enjoyed it as the chicken was not nice and it was greasy. He said they only use thigh meat and when we were ready to pay for the meal at the counter. I was presented with the bill which had no compensation for my comments. I said I wasn’t happy paying for my dish but was happy to pay the rest. I was told I needed to pay for all of the bill as I’d eaten it and they had cooked more chicken. ( I did not eat it and I just wish I’d have taken a photograph for proof ) Both my bhunna less the peppers I’d eaten and the additional chicken was returned. He said NO I had to pay the whole bill. I stood my ground and offered to pay half my bhunna dish ( see bill below £7.50 ) He reluctantly accepted which proves he knew my concerns were correct. The price of the dishes on the menu are not cheap ( see attached bill on photo ) One would expect chicken breast for a chicken bhunna at £15 and £7.50 for a reheated ready made peswari nann is rediculous. I’d have given no stars but unfortunately you have to press one star to do the review. Be very careful before booking or visiting this place as it’s not what you would expect for the price you pay.

We visited this pub/restuarant mid week and it was empty but the waitress did mention that its packed on a weekend which left us puzzled. The waitress asked us where we would like to sit and advised she would bring our drinks over which was nice. The pub overall was fairly decent, clean, tidy and a full menu. We ordered food and drinks and sat down. The food arrived in a timley manner and then this gave the game away why they are so popular on the weekends! WOW the food portions were large and very, very tasty. Part way through eating the very polite proffesional young lady came out and brought us extra skin on fries and a butter naan at no extra cost (although we couldnt eat as we were happily stuffed!). Its a shame this gem is tucked away but in regards to pricing if it keeps places like this afloat then so be it. Would recommend and cant wait to go back and smash some curries!.

We stayed here for a one-night stopover and booked an electric hook-up. Unfortunately, the only available spot for the hook-up was in front of the newly installed EV chargers. This meant we ended up parking in front of some of them, which wasn’t ideal, as people kept coming to charge their cars (that’s what they are there for after all!) but they were very close to us indeed. The cost for the electric hook-up was £20 for the night, which felt a bit pricey, especially considering we had also booked a meal at the pub. However, the meal was delicious, and the staff were wonderful.

Keep seeing this on social media, my wife suggested that we give it a try. We have had many curries up and down the country but I can honestly say that this was the worst ever and the most expensive. No starters 2 beers and 1 coke 2 mains one rice and 2 nan breads £85. Nearly fell off my chair. The mixed grill was terrible, the fish pakora was soggy and tasteless sheek kabab dry chewy and not nice the chicken was horrible- left loads of it. The chicken and spinach curry was more like a lumpy soup. The breads were the only decent part of the meal. The only reasonable part of the bill were the drinks they were well priced. The service was good, but when we said the food was not great the waiter apologised but that was it. We have had 2 starters, mains, rice and breads for less than the price of their mixed grill at our local restaurant. Would not recommend this restaurant.

This is a nice enough place. The food here was really excellent. I had the roast beef and it was truly fantastic. The drinks were great. Good selection of everything. Staff were polite and friendly. Decor is nice. We had a nice time overall. However the service was just so slow. We arrived at 13:30 and food didn't arrive till 15:00. After we finished eating they were totally ignored until they seemed to remember us around 16:00 when we ordered pudding and hot drinks. Also in the booking process they wanted £10 per head deposit to book. There were 10 of us so they wanted £100 to book. Crazy. But they never actually sent their bank details so we didn't actually veer pay. But they were so disorganised I don't think they noticed. We all pre-booked our food so the 90 minute delay felt even longer. We were told the cheesecake of the day was blackcurrant but two Toffee cheesecakes arrived. The "pigs in blankets" with the roast turned out to be one pig in a blanket, the custard was served cold with sticky Toffee pudding. So there were some faults. We mentioned that we were a little dissatisfied and they basically said tough. We pushed a little harder and 20 minutes later they gave us 10% off. Which was okay, but not really enough. In the end we left around 17:00.

We called in here with our MoHo as an overnight stop on our way home from London to Cumbria. A very warm welcome from the staff and the food was amazing, freshly cooked. Very well worth a visit and we’ll be back again. Not cheap but excellent value for money, as always, you get what you pay for. Well worth it. Les n Linda

Went in for a Sunday dinner after a walk up the Wrekin. Loads of space in the car park, we sat outside with our dog in the sun and had a great Sunday dinner! The portions were huge and the price was really reasonable. Great service too- one of the bartender's brought us a dog water bowl without being asked which was really considerate! Warning- the hearty appetite option for the Sunday dinner is HUGE.
