I shan’t be going there again, and I shall be telling all of my friends to avoid it like the plague.|I chose to eat spaghetti and meatballs. |The dish was cooked with a complete lack of imagination and I could taste the fat which probably explains why I’m suffering from acid reflux as I write this review. |At 8:10 pm, the landlord told me that I had to go by 8:30 because of the Welsh show. |I’m not quite sure what the connection was. However, it was clear that he was inviting me to leave, probably because I was the only guest in the pub and he didn’t want to be bothered with so little income coming in that evening. |This is not how one behaves when one runs a pub or, indeed, any establishment involved in the hospitality industry!|I don’t like this kind of behaviour and suspect that I have a lot of backing for my point of view.|The previous evening, I ate at the nearby Dinorben Arms and had a marvellous meal, very reasonably priced with exemplary guest-friendly service. |They certainly know how to do it there! |When I’m in the area again, it will be the. Dinorben Arms for me.

On 22/06/2025, two residents under our care, both of whom have learning disabilities, visited the golden lion for a refreshing drink. Despite their calm and compliant demeanor, they were regrettably refused service. The reason provided for this refusal was an alleged incident involving a different individual. Our residents were not involved in any prior issues and were causing no disturbance whatsoever during their visit. This refusal of service, based on the actions of an unrelated party, caused significant confusion and distress to both individuals. We view this as a potential act of discrimination and a deeply concerning incident regarding the equitable treatment of individuals with disabilities in public establishments.

Brilliant stop while out cycling, looked after us all and food was great. Thanks for use of the first aid box too. Very kind and considerate people, a credit to the area.

This is a proper pub. The landlord is welcoming and warm. Excellent home made food too.|Extensive outdoor area which can be booked. Well worth a visit if you want to see how a good pub ticks, and how it was and still should be!|Local cider was excellent! |It’s a bit off the beaten track but that is also an advantage.

We had a delicious family Sunday lunch for four at this pub today. The starters and main were freshly prepared and beautifully presented. Mains arrived hot with plenty of vegetables and gravy . Sadly we couldn’t fit in the homemade deserts . The owners were very friendly and coped amazingly well given the high volume of walk-ins they had . Highly recommended and we will definitely be back

So we called into this place after a long walk, purchased 3 drinks at the bar, this was halfway into a super strenuous walk. We thought we would support the local business. We took the drinks to the Garden, it was a lovely setting. Before we were about to depart, I thought I’d fuel up and eat my snack size toffee crisp (steep inclines ahead), only to be told by the landlady I couldn’t eat my chocolate on her car park, if I wanted to eat chocolate I should buy some from the bar. I would have had no issue with this, only the way in which I was spoken too was appalling. I mentioned it was a piece of chocolate, to a response of “I don’t care there is chocolate behind the bar. Now I could have been hypoglycaemic, thankfully I was not. Also whilst waiting at the Bar the landlady was heard slating a few tourists asking for Directions. “What part of right do they not bloody understand, Right at the milk Churn”. A group of Germans on Bikes probably wouldn’t understand. If approached different, I wouldn’t be writing this but this lady clearly doesn’t appreciate the £15 spent on a couple of drinks and doesn’t appreciate the visitors. If visiting, the beer is great but watch out for the Welsh dragon!

What a gem, we only had a short stay but it was well worth it.|Set in a beautiful location with fantastic views and countryside walks.||The staff are so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was Cottage|Like yet spacious with a large bathroom, large bed and central heating.||With free off road parking and a large menu full of home made meals all at a reasonable price, we only ate breakfast but it was delicious, all fresh ingredients and piping hot!

A warm welcome awaits as you step inside this lovely country inn. The hosts Brian and Sue and so lovely and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble either. We had an amazing meal, Pork loin in a honey and mustard glaze, simply delicious. We were even able to choose the music, we liked....not many places will do that for you! Definitely recommend you pay this place a visit. It has fantastic countryside views too and a lovely beer garden.
