Felt like a sort of revived downtown core meant for the tourist trade with a mix of old shops, pubs, and newer trendy coffee shops. I was heading to the castle earlier in the day before most of the cruise ship shuttles had arrived (things were not open yet) so I did encounter some questionable street people. There was also a walking police presence in the area. Probably has a positive vibe for the afternoon and into the early evening.

Market Square is a place in town where most of the drink places, eateries, banks, library etc all around. The misty water feature is the best thing to cool you down in summer. It's like a massive humidfire. All I didn't like that the area is covered by drugy and drinkers though Dover is nice town and holding a beautiful castle as well.

A lovely place for a walk and a great way to experience local life in Dover. The square has a charming atmosphere, with interesting sights and a glimpse into the daily rhythm of the town. We took many photos to remember the visit—definitely a spot worth exploring if you're in the area.

Pedestrianised town square with a selection of shops and cafés around. An effort has clearly been made to improve the area with the installation of a mist water feature. This modern centerpiece provides an interesting contrast against the traditional elegant façade of the museum building. There's seating around the square and litter bins are provided. Just be aware that the shopping streets haven't all benefited from the same improvements; there were a lot of shady characters hanging around town when I visited midweek.

It's getting better. Dover resident here. They really need to move the local services, banks and charity shops out of the market square, and fill the place with cafes, restaurants and bars. should also close the road by Dickens, so traffic can get in and out of Stembrook via Castle Street. The Make whole market square into a piazza.

I must say the new water feature is a massive upgrade from the last. Walk north up into the town precinct and you’ll notice it become more deprived like most towns nowadays. However the market square in general is very nice place to be.
