After over 50 years of attending the Colonial Highland games in Fairhill Maryland, we finally got to fulfill my dream of a true highland games in Dunkeld, Scotland. These authentic games have character and life that comes from true tradition ... almost 150 years worth. We marched with the pipe band from the Dunkeld cross, over the bridge and into the games arena. The the races, hammer and stone throw, caber toss, and dancing was true Scottish heritage and so much fun. The food was exceptional and the day was perfect. If you're in the area at the right time, make it a priority to go.

Had an amazing time attending the highland games. The events were so fun to watch. The athletes seemed to have a great competitive spirit while cheering each other on. The day was filled with sights sounds and some tasty food. The attendees, workers and bees at the event were super friendly. Wish they sold an official T-shirt or merch for us tourists. The train ride was super simple and totally worth the journey! Checked another off the bucket list!

Great fun. Everything going on a once. Kilted marching bands. Running. Cycling. Dancing. Caber Tossing. Haggis eating. A good family day out but bring some chairs and an umbrella. Very dog friendly.

The Birnam Highland Games offers various activities to see but within a relatively small and contained park. There were also shows / rides for children on the periphery of the highland games. Events include solo piping, highland dancing, athletic events and heavy events. There are a small number of vans for food, local crafts and organizations and a beer tent. Payment to enter and for the car park - wise to bring cash. If going again I would check in advance as to any online sales to buy in advance. When heading north up A9 from Perth, the games park is at the Birnam turn off, almost immediately on the left / very close to A9 turn off.

Really nice spot. Great walk from whitemoss car park - can easily walk to Grassmere too. Even saw some deers in the wood.

Only gave 3 stars as we were charged £20 entry, our son and his wife and 2 boys and baby were charged same, I bought 4 icecream wafers and two cones that came to £28 What a rip off! 3 stars were for the pipe band! The place was packed, so a few people made a fortune that day, charging those kind of prices for parking or entry should be seriously looked at! We couldn't even get a seat to eat the ice-cream Not everyone can afford those prices. We had more fun at Birnam Park which was free!
