Fingle Glen Bishops park

Was doing some work locally and had half an hour to find a coffee. Was just driving past and saw the sign. The drive was a bit rough so wasn’t expecting much but I was very surprised when I went inside. All newly renovated. Lovely new toilets. Super coffee shop with lounge chairs and TV. I had a lovely cappuccino. Staff were very pleasant. Main facilities - bar area looked immense in size and very well done out. Noticed they had a Trackman golf simulator. I took photos of dog treats menu as U guess they welcome dogs which is unusual at a golf club.

Arrived to a warm and friendly welcome, but discovered no driving range. Then went for a practice putt but couldn't as the green was bone dry and cracked. Started our round to find the first hole isn't the first anymore and that some of the holes are no longer in the same order as on Garmin golf or the golf pad app. When we got to the first green (sorry brown) our disappointment was complete with very poor ground conditions (see pics)and continued for the entire round as all the greens are the same. The course has the potential for brilliance, with stunning surroundings sloping fairways and challenging shot making everywhere. The let down was lack of maintenance.

This golf course is now barely open. It's as if it has fallen into administration. Visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon having booked a tee time via the website. On arrival we were met with a locked up clubhouse and a sign informing us that due to staffing issues the clubhouse is closed. It didn't get anybetter on the course itself.

Played a round of golf and had a beer at the bar. The course layout was confusing but there were a few interesting holes. The greens and bunkers were in terrible condition, almost unplayable. The staff were friendly. Had a pint of guiness. It was not nice.

I arrived 2 hours earlier than I'd been told reception was due to close after a 6 hour journey, to find all staff had gone home early - there was no bar, no food or drink if I had wanted it. All lights were off and doors were locked, I had to find my own way to my room. This meant I was sat in my room at 8 o'clock with nothing to do and nowhere nearby to go. The room itself was nice enough, clean and comfortable, although the shower wasn't very warm, and the sink tap dripped loudly and relentlessly through the night. It was also very cold in the morning.

As always here, fabulous friendly and welcoming staff. A great venue. Good food. Clean and comfortable hotel rooms. GREAT breakfast. My only reason for dropping one star is because of the noise levels from the function rooms. We were part of a wedding group ourselves, but the extreme volume of the band and the disco until nearly 2am meant no sleep if you went to bed earlier than this. Why could the function room doors not be closed? or the volume turned down somewhat after midnight? Having said this, we would stay here again as overall it is a really nice venue.

Only played the first seven holes and then got rained off . good looking course will definitely play again.

We arrived when the club/restaurant/bar was shut, so it was very quiet. Only seemed to be one member of staff on duty to check us in. Room was basic but clean. Unusual set up but breakfast was good with lots of choice.
