Brightside Roadside Dining Honiton

We had an issue that our food was not hot and egg shell in the poached egg. Most tables were uncleared and not cleaned when we arrived, busy during the holidays most likely. Staff did clear and clean a table for us to sit at. The menu looked great, with ample choice. A quite large restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. It did make me think of the 80s or Stranger Things. Prices were reasonable but the attention to detail was not. Fresh tomatoes seemed to be covered in tinned tomato juice. It seemed margarine was used for the toast, rather than butter. When we told the gentleman about the cold items on my sons plate, he replaced half of it. Pot of tea was welcome. Amelia came to take our payment; even though we left almost all of it in i was going to pay, as we needed to get back on then road. Amelia saw how much was uneaten and bought the manager over anyway. It was all sorted out and we went on our way. Large car park. Toilets for customers. Don't think we would visit one again but we like the concept.

We came here as a group of 8 and were seated straight away. The service was really friendly and fast. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and good portion sizes. A great location if you’re on the A303.

There’s plenty of parking, which makes stopping off easy and stress-free. The service was fast, friendly, and genuinely warm — polite without being overbearing, and clearly focused on creating a positive experience. As for the food, I went for the classic burger and fries — and it was spot on. Juicy, well-seasoned, and served piping hot. It’s the kind of comfort food that’s hard to beat when done right, and Brightside absolutely nailed it. The ambiance ties it all together — clean, bright, and full of retro touches that feel thoughtfully done rather than gimmicky. Whether you’re passing through or making a planned stop, this is a place that leaves you smiling. Highly recommended.

Awesome roadside cafe! British firm with a real American feel! Clean slick interior, and friendly staff. Great menu! Even caters for Keto and carnivore, which is still rare. Really good food, reasonably priced. Good Rock music too! Overall brilliant atmosphere! Why aren't these places on every motorway! Will be back for sure! 🤘

Lovely friendly staff, happy to make our experience here a good 1. All seem to be working together under the pressure of the day . The food was delicious & we didn't have to wait long Will call again 😀

I've stopped here four times over the summer and it's been excellent each time. The first time I stopped I did not have high expectations (after all, it was a Happy Eater in the 80s), but I have to say, the steak and eggs I ordered were nothing short of exceptional - so good, in fact, that the second time I stopped I didn't dare order them again because I felt that the second time they couldn't possibly be better, they could only be worse. Maybe I'm a pessimist at heart but I'm glad because the breakfast hash I did order was also exceptional, and I'm not even a massive fan of barbecue sauce. The staff are lovely too, I felt they genuinely didn't mind when I arrived on my motorcycle in a thunderstorm and left a big puddle of water under my table. Go here! I need this place to stay open!

Brilliant find on our first trip along A30 to Cornwall. Just what we needed excellent staff & very tasty food. Bonus of cheap petrol next door. Will return

Stopped here for breakfast on the way down to our next destination and all of us were extremely impressed by the quality of service, food and atmosphere. Lovey decor, clean and very welcoming. We didn’t have to wait long for either food or drinks, steady flow of customers coming in throughout our stop. Highly recommend anyone to stop here!
