Just back from 4 nights at Sprowston Manor. Suite 311 was just perfect at a small supplement. Food and drinks were fine. Lovely swimming pool and garden grounds. Currently getting new carpets throughout the hotel. Between breakfast and dinner the dining room was totally recarpeted. We liked the hotel and the staff were excellent. Will 100% reccommend to friends & family.

Not exactly the most relaxing spa morning when the entire pool is being used for children’s swimming lessons for the hours we were there and the jacuzzi is shut… finished a facial to chill in a pool but instead got to watch 20 kids learn how to swim loudly. Shouldn’t really be upselling the spa add on during times when it’s unusable. We had our treatments and pretty much left, all staff we encountered were seriously lacking customer service skills also. Changing rooms and floor in pool area weren’t the cleanest, the loungers are horribly stained. It’s really not the luxury spa morning we expected. Treatments were nice at least! Overall I’d give it a miss, there’s much nicer places for the price and you don’t have to hear noisy voices etc while trying to enjoy a massage.

Tea for two. A lovely treat. We were the only people in the large dining room. So, it lacked a little ambiance. It did not, however, detract from our enjoyment of a delicious tea. Plenty of sandwiches and very good scones. The fresh strawberries on the cream was a nice touch. The cakes were more petite four than afternoon tea cakes, but plenty of them. Will certainly go again

Rooms are very individual in this hotel so not all rooms like this but we didn't get this room cheaper than others but was inferior.||Main issue is kitchen extractor outside room. Not only is it noisy all night but really smelly (even with window closed) smell was that bad I felt sick.||Next issue is room is very small with slopping ceilings so not good if tall.||There was no headboard which made bed feel a bit like a double camp bed set up in a loft room.||Bathroom is small but recently redone. Shower cubicle is compact which is fine until you realise no shelf for toiletries so struggle for space to bend over to get.||Breakfast is buffet style and was lovely (although after disturbed nights sleep coffee needed to be stronger)

Despite a warm and friendly welcome by the check-in staff and a lovely surprise of balloons and petals waiting for us on the four poster bed, our celebration of our 35th wedding anniversary soon turned sour. We were only offered a choice of two times for our anniversary dinner, 6pm or 8:30pm. We took the earlier time slot only to find we were sharing the room with a pre-booked family wake of around 30+ people. Not sure who was the more embarrassed, us or them, but suffice to say we cut our dinner short for obvious reasons. The staff were very apologetic and said it should not have happened but the management were not so sympathetic and basically said tough. This is a hotel that deals with many large parties; if you are not in one I would suggest you carefully consider your choices first before booking

5/5

The hotel is just great. It is my idea of old world style. The staff in the bar and restaurant are great at what they do. Marie, Georgia, and Lucy made dinner a wonderful experience. Anyone who finds their way to this hotel is lucky. Anyone who dines or tips a pint in the restaurant and bar is going to have a great time indeed.

As with many hotels like this in the UK it’s tired and worn and could do with a serious refurbishment. The staff were friendly and helpful, but there was no room service, the jacuzzi was out of action and we weren’t told we’d need to book the restaurant. Pool/sauna etc are nice. My room was pokey and extremely hot , must have been next to some heat pipes or something. The pillows were horrendous, used a towel. So overall bad value .
