Mount Pleasant Hotel

A lovely hotel. Although the room was small(ish), it was cosy, warm and well appointed. The building itself is quite old and quirkily ‘English’, but believe me, the staff are wonderful, the food was excellent, and you will be hard put to find a nicer place to stay in or around Sidmouth. We shall definitely be returning in the spring. We stayed for just 3 nights, and would have loved to stay a bit longer.

We spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel. Our room (17) was very comfortable with a fantastic bed. ||The staff are without exception friendly, helpful and professional most ably led by Jonty. He has a relaxed friendly manner and nothing is too much trouble.||As others have said the hotel position is excellent. A brief walk to the high street or a slightly longer walk via the river and ford. ||We stayed B@B and breakfasts were good too. ||We hope to return next year and can certainly recommend the hotel for comfort, position and the best staff. Thank you everyone.

Fantastic traditional seaside hotel. Refurbished a few years ago and retains its comfortable homely feel, with a "proper" lounge. Location is 5-10 minutes stroll from the front, which is an advantage as it's quiet and secluded. Metres away from "The Byes" which is a long park running next to the river Sid and offers picturesque walks pretty much as far as you want to go.

I recently stayed at the Mount Pleasant with my sister-in-law and we had a wonderful time. I usually go for larger group hotels, so wasn't sure how I would like this smaller one. Well, I couldn't fault it! For a small hotel, the owner, Jonty is doing a good job and the staff make you feel very welcome. Our room, No:17 had twin beds and was very bright as had dual aspect windows. It was very clean and the beds exceptionally comfortable. I think also what made the hotel special was the food - compliments to the chef, who I believe has been there a long while! Breakfasts were adequate with a nice selection, loved the porridge and cream! The evening meals superb with a nice choice each day and the quality of the meat was excellent. Aga and her whole staffing team were very attentive and made you feel very welcome. After dinner it was nice going into the lounge with a drink, and talking with the other guests, as had a lovely intimate feel that you wouldn't get in a larger hotel.|Position wise we loved it, as was away from the hustle & bustle of the seafront and town, and yet only a 10 minute walk away.|I was so impressed with the standard of this small hotel that I am going back again in September with my husband. Well done Jonty and the team!

This hotel is well positioned for a short walk into Sidmouth taking about 10 minutes especially with the free parking at the front of the hotel. Dinner on the evening here was exceptional with all the food freshly cooked and a wide choice of dishes. |It was our Wedding Anniversary and the hotel very kindly provided prosecco with our evening meal. Our table overlooked the garden which was a good place to eat . The breakfast the following morning was also delicious with a wide choice of dishes to have. The service was immaculate and friendly,|We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again.

Stopped for a Saturday night. A proper miserable rainy day. The hotel was very welcoming and in a good position. The room was nice with a decent bathroom and a good sized bed. The waiting staff in the morning were excellent as was the breakfast.

Jonty the hotel owner is a fantastic host, Aga his deputy is also great. They go out of their way to make each person’s stay as wonderful as can be giving advice on meal choices, where to visit round and about and any queries you have. The deluxe double we booked was a really lovely room, bathroom very clean and modern. Lovely gardens and outdoor furniture to use in the sunshine. Lounge is well appointed. Only a few minutes walk to the centre of Sidmouth, cinema less than a 5 minute walk. I cannot find any fault with this hotel. We have just returned from a wonderful stay here last week. Highly recommended, a Regency jewel in Sidmouth.

This was our second visit to the Mount Pleasant and it will not be our last.|This Hotel provides great service and all the staff are first class.|Room was great and the food is superb.|Thank you Jonty and all the team for a great stay. |Would highly recommend
