The Lodge At Green Cove & Green Cove Angler Store

Didn't actually stay in the Lodge part. Family was in the fourth campground. There is no wifi, no cell service, however there are plenty of fish, hiking, and waterfalls to check out. The people at the store were really friendly and there is a payphone you can use if you just have to call out. Very remote and just what I needed a technology free vacay.🥰

No phone, no internet, no TV, no radio. We lived in our on little bubble the entire time. Great fire place, to roast marshmallows, hotdogs, or steaks. |We brought all of our food so we used the kitchen a great deal. Nothing fancy, the bare necessities. |The beds were quite comfortable. The 2 space heaters & fireplace kept us comfortable.|The only downside were the sheer curtains in the sitting room and bedroom. No privacy.||The back deck has spectacular views of the river & Woodlands. There are plenty of trails to hike & multiple fishing holes.

I think the other reviews so far cover the bases. I will add what is not stated on the website to help mange expectations. I was surprised by the number of 'RV paddocks'-dozens of them- around the area with a mix of small seasonal cabins. Be prepared that with good weather the area is over flowing with tourists, outdoor enthusiasts etc. In a word? It can be crowded. This is a well stocked fishing area. (Take note of the many yellow squares along the road that designate a stocking point.) Seasoned fishermen there commented how stressed the river is with the number of anglers descending on these waters. We saw that. Some places had adults and kids crowding both sides of the river. ||||Though the walls are cinder block they are not well insulated, and noise may be a problem if your neighbor likes to stay up late, party etc. The price for river front room is good compared to other places-put this facility, somewhere else, is a $29/night flop house. BUT the bed was comfortable and the room was sufficient to serve as a fishing base camp. It is one step above tenting it. ( by the way...there are several great camp sites and we'll go with tents next time). Reviews accurately describe the rooms as rustic-very true; but the rooms need up keep. I saw the inside of three and they were not well maintained. The bathroom with a stand up shower is a little bigger than a phone booth-room for one! Shower is ok. We had hot water so that was nice. ||||Again, in fairness to the lodge...its a fishing hostel not meant to be well appointed accommodations. If you expect an isolated cozy lodge its not. If you want a bed and a shower and access to the water its fine. If you want quiet-it may not be. If you want clean, well maintained and tidy its not. Its clean bedding and a sweep.||||Would I recommend it? Hard to say. If you want something quiet and quaint-this misses the mark especially spring through autumn when visitor counts will be up. I would go back off peak season but would not go if the place is packed. We were there to fish so it was rise and shine before sun up to get to the less crowed places and our side of the lodge usually did not quiet down till 11ish or so. ||||It was very nice to sit out back and enjoy the river. Be prepared however that the placement of the fire rings and picnic tables may have your neighbors hanging out right behind your room. As stated in other reviews informal is the operative word for this property. It would not be a bad idea, when you arrive, to ask to see the room you‘ve been given. Two of our rooms had a chemical smell. No microwaves in the rooms so plan to cook out unless you go into Tellico Plains. You'll need to bring a grill. Fridge is small but adequate for 2-4 people depending on how much food you store. Some food provisions at the store. Not a lot. If you're a light sleeper maybe bring ear plugs. No extra bedding in the rooms so if evening are going to be cold bring some. Our heaters worked but others not so much. All in all it was ok.

Caught several fish out the back door, seriously it's right on the water. It was clean and beautiful. The people were so nice it was like being around family. I will be going back!!! However if you are looking for a Marriott and always in a hurry and thinks everything revolves around you and your vacation don't go it will ruin the atmosphere for everybody else. No they don't allow pets and I like that. My husband is allergic so I'm grateful we can enjoy our vacation with him breathing and his eyes not swollen shut. If you are looking for a place in the mountains to relax and fish this is IT!

Stayed here for the eclipse and it is great. Like some other people have said the area including the rooms have a lot of spider webs. The furniture is starting to show its age and the place is pretty dated. The lack of any electrical connection to the outside world besides the pay phone at the store is definitely hard to deal with in this day and age but the amount of things you can do in the area and even behind the rooms is an easy use of time. The sound of the river are the best sounds you can ever sleep to or just sit by for hours. Definitely a drive to get to and it has it's drawbacks but definitely somewhere I could stay again.

The location was outstanding, the owners are nice,the rooms are clean....but the "taxes" are outrageous. My husband and I were looking for something $100 or less as we were only passing through the area. The $89 room was just what we needed and it was clean but was in dier need of updating but I was okay with that considering the price. When we checked out the following morning,however, we were smacked with $50 worth of "taxes". I wish so bad there had been a forewarning of this on their website. I was certainly prepared to pay some sort of tax but certainly not that much. If I had known it would end up being $125 I would have just made it to Tellico and purchased a room with heat and air and access to a hot tub. Never the less, the area is gorgeous and the view off the deck is second to none.

Me and my whole family have been coming here since I was a little girl to camp, swim and fish and now I bring my own children. If you want to teach your children what life is like with out all the technology and teach them how to enjoy nature this is a perfect place for that a nice peaceful place to get away and relax . Although we miss the old owners for their hospitality and kindness, the new owners are very nice as well I think the only complaint I would have is they don't stay true to their store hours .
