National Trust - Seaton Delaval Hall, historic baroque house and estate in Northumberland. The Hall is appreciated for its architecture, historic character and engaging visit experience. Dramatic architecture and history. The stunning baroque fasade and the atmosphere of the partially restored hall, especially the central hall and cellars which still show fire damage from the 19th century. The gardens and estate are well kept and great for walks or picnics, a pleasant part of the visit. Play areas and outdoor space where children and dogs, outside the house can explore. Friendly staff and volunteers are knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic, enhancing the experience. The cafe positively, warm and pleasant, though this varies with crowd levels. Very good for a half-day visit, especially if you enjoy architecture, intriguing history, gardens, and staff interpretation. It’s particularly suited to visitors who appreciate character and story over formal rooms filled with antiques.

Arriving car-free I was granted a spin of a prize wheel as I arrived, and won a free scone from the café. A great first impression! The gardens are nice, without being outstanding. But the hall is dramatic and certainly worth your time. Paired with the contemporary art show that was on during my visit, it made for a great canvas. Entering into the west wing provided an enjoyable contrast for what you might consider a more usual National Trust experience. Had an interesting conversation with one of the young volunteers who briefed me on some of the history. I also thought the curatorial decision to have the collections storage open to the public was a great idea. All in all it’s a high recommend, and I’d implore to arrive by bus, bike or boot!

My wife and I really enjoyed our visit here in August while the gardens were still in full flower. The hall itself can be deceiving as on first entering it looks quite empty devoid of anything interesting to see...but make sure you go down to basement level. Down here is a miread of rooms full of paintings and artifacts. We certainly would visit again in the future

Great visit today. My granddaughters loved the summer of play, and I loved looking around the gardens and the house. It's been a few years since we were here. The house still has several levels open and a brilliant display of paintings, porcelain figures, and furniture. All displayed as though they were in storage.

Despite the main ball being nothing but a shell it is a fantastic place to visit, loads of interesting history, the guides are very knowledgeable and welcoming, the West wing contains several rooms full of interesting artefacts from the National trusts collections, and the basement areas are very interesting.

Enjoyed both the Hall and grounds. Excellent knowledgeable volunteers and loads to do for the children both inside and out. Cafe ran out of a few things but they had been extremely busy the day we went which was sunny and warm. Highly recommend a visit.

They put on a really good show for Halloween! The kids loved it. The family of twelve that lived there and inspired things such as the upside down room sound like great fun, very inspiring.
